The Royal Hotel in 1900 - located in Brentford High Street at this time, next door to the Royal Brewery. It was demolished when the gas works needed the site for expansion in the 1920's. The temperance movement was quite strong in Edwardian times and breweries had to give up licences or transfer them to open new pubs/hotels.  The name was transferred to the building on the present site in Boston Road in the 1920's.
