Keith Waithe and the Macusi Players

Keith Waithe  Vocal Effects/Flutes.

Together with his band The Macusi Players, he produces an original musical style exploring the cultural diversity and fusion of Jazz, African, Caribbean and Asian music in light matrix of polyrhythmic currents. Keith first learned to play the trumpet from his father in Guyana and during his formal music training there, transferred to the flute. Keith formed The Macusi Players, (taking the name from the powerful Macusis Amerindian tribe from Guyana) incorporating the diverse influences and origins from within the group-blending the Indian tabla, African drum, Caribbean steelpan, modern keyboard wizardiy and of course his own flutes 1 lOto date).
