ROBERT HOKUM & THE GUV’NORS

(a sonic collision of Blues, Funk and Acid Jazz)

Formed in 1988 by guitarist/vocalist Robert  Hokum, The Guv’nors started out as a Chicago Blues band who allowed themselves to be influenced by psychedelic funk and acid jazz. In doing so they have gained a solid reputation as one of the best and more original bands on the blues circuit of West London and the Home Counties. Thcy have made six albums, played major festivals, gigged in Europe and the Channel Islands, had their recordings played in several radio stations, ‘inflight’ programmes, used on commercials and been sampled for ‘house’ records.

On July 25th 1999, the Guv’nors headlined the Ealing Summer Blues Party (as they have done every year since 1989). 8,500 people turned up (London Borough of Ealing estimate).
