KIND
Each year hundreds of children experience something new and very special in their lives - a stay at KIND's Countryside Centre in Scotland. This page describes some of the rich and varied experience that make a stay with KIND so memorable for each and every one of them. We believe that they leave us as better individuals, equipped with personal and social skills that will enrich their lives through a better understanding of the world we all share. None of this could be achieved without the generous support of individual organizations who recognize the value of KIND's work. The Challenges of Childhood
For these youngsters daily home-life offers little to foster a positive outlook, as parents frequently struggle with low incomes and often grim social environments. This is evidenced by the sources of referrals to KIND. For example, health visitors, one-parent groups and other children’s welfare charities, women’s aid organizations, church groups and other community groups, together with social services. Schools increasingly recognize the value of KIND’s learning programmes, especially because of the structured activity links to the National Curriculum. A KIND PhilosophyKIND is a charity that was created to provide a framework of opportunity for these young people to realise their own full potential. Learning to CareWe set out to enable youngsters from 5 to 12 years old to discover more about themselves and each other, in an environment that offers caring support and encouragement through a structured and enjoyable learning-centred approach.
The KIND experience takes place at the Countryside Centre on the Balbeg estate in South Ayrshire, 250 acres of beautiful landscape. It is here that the children spend an unforgettable week, learning more about life and themselves. Dedicated and qualified staff ensure that each child receives individual attention, when required, both in terms of participating in learning activities and also health and safety factors. Time spent talking together builds relationships between the staff and children throughout their stay at the Countryside Centre. The charity’s approach is centred on personal, physical and creative development through a clearly defined and structured framework: Contact KIND at:-
