queen.jpg (26935 bytes)Hot on the heels of amazing success at last year’s Ruby Anniversary Hanwell Carnival, the organisers have been busy again to bring you another marvellous day full of events, attractions and fun. The Hanwell Carnival this year was on Saturday 16th June and will began with the procession from Drayton Manor Playing Fields which arrived at Elthorne Park at 1.45 pm, headed as usual by the Carnival Queen and Princess. Other entrants included a Big Red Open-Topped Bus, an aircraft carrier, and many local schools, church groups, and charities with highly decorated floats. The grand finale to the procession this year was the vibrant and colourful entrant from Notting Hill Carnival, Ruff Diamonds.

(See pictures from last year by clicking on this link)

There is still time for local organisations to enter a float for next year, and Parade Entry Forms are available at all Ealing libraries, including Northfields, or by telephoning the Carnival Secretary on 020 8840 7826. We welcome everyone - the more the merrier!

toysoldiers1.jpg (41231 bytes)Inside Elthorne Park there were Main Arena events ranging from a samba display from Notting Hill Carnival to Medieval Mayhem and members of the Ealing Dance Festival. There were also the traditional attractions, including inflatables, sideshows, funfair, circus workshop, refreshments, beer and tea tents, our much-loved Dog Show, and the return of the popular Craft Fair.

We would of course also like to welcome some new volunteers onto the Carnival Committee, as we are desperately short of help, and any amount of time and effort you could give, however small, would be much appreciated, particularly if you have secretarial, organisational or administration skills. Again please contact the Carnival Secretary, as above.

As all monies raised by the Carnival go towards local charities, and this is often their only major annual fundraising event , we do hope to see as many people as possible at the Hanwell Carnival again this year, entrance is free and we can promise you a traditional, fun-filled, family day out.
