| 12th AugustEaling Jazz Festival - Saturday the 12th August. 2.00pm Butcher’s Brew Andor Jensen (saxes) Andrew Butcher (trombone) Andy Skinnard (piano) Richard Bolton (guitar) Dan Quinton (bass) Elliot Toms (drums) Following a storming performance at last year’s Festival, Butcher’s Brew will again offer a mix of tightly arranged modern jazz standards, atmospheric ballads and the leader’s hard-hitting original compositions. 3.45pm Sheena Davies Group Sheena Davies (vocals) Matt Clackett (saxes/flute) Tom Cawley (piano) Robert Rickenberg (bass) Pete Cater (drums) An ex-NYJO songstress lately building a huge reputation as a singer of exceptional musicality, Sheena Davies makes her debut on the Festival fronting her own band. Her voice has an instrumentality which blends well with Matt Clackett’s soulful sax playing, Tom Cawley’s awesome two-handed technique and the two multi-award-winning rhythm men. 5.00pm John Critchinson (piano) - in the Bar Tent 5.3Opm Paul Carmichael’s ‘Flight’ Adrian Revell (saxes/flute) Martin Shaw, Henry Collins (trumpets) Pat Hertley (trombone) Janette Mason (keyboards) Mark Johns (guitar) Paul Carmichael (bass guitar/composer/arranger) Chris Fletcher (percussion) Chris Dagley (drums). Paul Carmichael’s Flight takes off with an extended crew. The added brass section allows the composer/arranger to introduce new pieces with a strong Latin feel along with some moodier numbers. Chris Fletcher’s expressive percussion playing helps this group achieve its distinctive Latin big band sound. Should be a fun event! 6.45pm John Critchinson (piano) - in the Bar Tent 7.l5pm Tommy McQuater & Friends Tommy McQuater (trumpet/f lugelhorn) Enrico Tomasso (trumpet) Duncan Lamont (tenor sax) Don Innes (piano) Jack Emblow (accordian) Tom McQuater Jnr (bass guitar/vocals) Bobby Orr (drums) Providing one of the high spots of the Festival every year, the indomitable Tommy McQuater again brings his unflagging good humour and a bunch of like-minded and relatively young friends for our delight. Sharing the trumpet duties with the Grand Old Man is the highly popular and truly versatile Enrico Tomasso. 8.3Opm John Critchinson (piano) - in the Bar Tent 9.00pm Liz Fletcher Sextet Liz Fletcher (vocals) Alison Neale (tenor sax) Gareth Williams (piano/keyboards/guitar) Sam Burgess (bass) Gary Hammond (percussion) Marc Parnell (drums) Following her successful debut at Ronnie Scott’s earlier this year, Liz Fletcher returns to Ealing to deliver her instantly recognisable offbeat treatment of standards and new songs written by Rupert Wate and herself. Intriguingly, the glamorous Miss Fletcher promises an exotic touch of reggae mixed with her ballads and jazz numbers. This information is supplied by kind permission of Ealing Council Halls and Events Department.
