Ealing HistoryThese pages contain historical information on the Ealing Borough area. Ealing c1890 is an 1890 map of Ealing - click on the map to see photographs of Ealing at about that time. The map takes about 1 minute to load on a 56kbps modem. Ealing 1777 is a map showing Ealing in 1777 - there are of course no photographs with this map but it is interesting to see the relative importance of Brentford at the time. The History Galleries give access to historical pictures by region. Other old pictures of Greenford, Northolt, North Ealing and Hanwell which are outside the range of map, given in Ealing c 1890, are also included. The 'Ealing then and now' pages show how Ealing has changed using modern and old photographs of the same location. (See also the 'Pubs' and 'Churches' pages) Most of the old Photographs of Ealing were
obtained with the help of the staff at the 'Ealing Local History Centre' located
at Central Library, Unit 103, Ealing Broadway Centre.
Other material was obtained from privately owned (copies of) original photographs and from the original post cards where indicated.
