            Volunteer Reading Help

Volunteer Reading Help is a national charity which recruits and trains volunteers
from the local community to give individual help to children in primary schools
who find reading difficult.

Our Volunteers

  • work in local primary schools
  • help children twice a week
  • give regular individual help to 3 children
  • enjoy talking, reading and playing games with the children

What do we offer you?

  • satisfying voluntary work
  • ongoing training
  • regular support by branch staff
  • travel expenses
  • an opportunity to make a difference to children in your local community

We ask our volunteers

  • to attend a short training course
  • to help for three hours a week in term time
  • to give at least a year's commitment

No formal qualifications are needed; training will be given.
All volunteers are interviewed and references are taken up before attending training.
